South Africa

As mentioned in the previous post, I still have some catching up to do with all the pictures from Zim and South Africa. Here's a first taste of Cape Town and the peninsula. If my pictures look almost too perfect, I would also like to mention that we did venture into one of the townships (Gugulethu) which certainly gives a completely different impression. I can also confirm that it is a different world from all the tourist glitz and posh cocktail bars of Camp's Bay, to a point where it felt uncomfortable.

Even if this part of my trip is not as well documented ( even though I like visiting all kinds of places off the main tourist track I'm not a big fan of "catastrophe tourism") I have seen both sides of South Africa and even the most beautiful pictures cannot hide that there are a lot of problems with poverty and huge, huge inequality. But there is also no denying that the Cape is one of the most beautiful places on earth with a mild climate and great natural beauty so I have enjoyed both experiences, the good and the bad.
